VIRIAL, INC.
Scientific software development and consulting services for radiation thermometry, radiometry, and photometry
Home
VIRIAL, INC. established in 2000, specializes in scientific software development and consulting services for the radiation thermometry, radiometry, photometry, optical instrumentation, and radiation heat transfer.

Virial, Inc., a small business based in Gaithersburg, MD, is the creator of STEEP3 code intended for Monte Carlo modeling of radiation parameters of blackbody radiation sources. STEEP3 became the de facto standard in calculations of the effective emissivity of blackbodies for calibration laboratories and remote sensing applications. This program is based on the proprietary algorithm and used in such world metrological centers as NIST (USA), NPL (UK), PTB (Germany), NRC (Canada), AIST (Japan), BNM-INM (France), NMI (Netherlands), VNIIOFI (Russia), KRISS (South Korea), BSMI (Taiwan), etc.
Now, Virial, Inc. introduces STEEP321 - the program with enhanced capabilities for modeling radiation characteristics of calibration blackbodies and, additionally, offers remote calculation services. Now, you can download the evaluation version of STEEP321, prepare the initial data and commit us to perform calculations for you.

Virial, Inc. also fulfils customer’s orders on development and customization of the software for computer modeling of cavity blackbody sources, cavity detectors of optical radiation, filter radiometers, integrating spheres and similar devices. Virial, Inc. would be pleased to provide contract engineering to scientific customers for the development of new ideas, designs and the rigorous evaluation and assessment of innovative technical concepts.

International collaboration with world major metrological research centers and with companies involved in appropriate research and developments represents a vital element in Virial’s endeavors to amplify and extend its experience and creative potential through the expansion of R&D contact network.
We have STEEP3 customers in NASA, Space Dynamics Laboratory (Logan, UT), Space Science and Engineering Center (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Dept. Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics (University of Oxford, UK), in the world-leading high-tech companies.
